Three Kingdoms
In the early centuries of recorded time, there was scarce a time as turbulent as the rise of the Three Kingdoms. The term “three” kingdoms is somewhat misleading, as each ruler believed he was the true heir to the seat of the Emperor, and therefore ruler of all of China. Though brief in duration, this period has been greatly romanticized by modern scholars and writers. The disunification of China, and the pride of each Kingdom left the country feeling desperate and hopeless, though wartime culture had never been better. The Kingdoms, known as Wei, Shu, and Wu, sought to ascertain control of the us through whatever means necessary.
In Heroes of Three Kingdoms (HotK), you’re a warrior brimming with potential, but not yet aligned with any kingdom. You’re a sellsword, a mercenary looking to prove yourself and enter the ultimate battle over territory and influence. However, before starting your conquest, you must choose your weapon and make your appearance known. So begins our preview of Heroes of Three Kingdoms, an exciting title by Perfect World Entertainment.
Guild Wars 2
Earlier this year, ArenaNet Creative Director Daniel Dociu made a trip to a Shanghai Games Developers Conference to share his experiences with multimedia and it’s implications within game development. China GDC attendees were then treated to some of the most detailed and inspired concept art to ever be associated with an MMO, let alone Guild Wars 2. Coupled with his lecture, the artwork reinforced Dociu’s belief that, “…concept art, when properly integrated into game design can impact and influence the success of a game.”
Judging by the hype generated by Guild Wars 2 so far, we can make certain that the creative team at ArenaNet are an extremely talented and ambitious group. Do yourself a favor, and look for the incredible imagery that was displayed during Dociu’s presentation here.
